BURBANK — There were a wealth of fine accomplishments turned in this past season by the three area football teams — Burroughs, Burbank and Bellarmine-Jefferson highs.
The Guards again received a fine season performance from senior linebacker Alex Davidians, who was one of three Bell-Jeff players to make the All-Santa Fe League first team.
Davidians, an All-CIF pick in 2008, led the team with 148 tackles and averaged 13.5 tackles a game.
Also making the first team were junior running back-receiver Micah Shirley and senior wide receiver-linebacker Abdo Hajj.
Shirley, who was moved from receiver to running back midway through the season, had 87 carries for 1,000 yards on the ground and caught 46 passes for 676 yards. He scored 25 total touchdowns.
Making the second team were junior linebacker Galen Quintero, senior linemen David Quintanilla and David Sayad, junior lineman Eric Lopez and senior linebacker-lineman Dylan Watkins.
The Guards (6-5) finished third in the Santa Fe League and lost in the first round of the Northeast playoffs to Boron, 36-25. (read full story)
