College Update: The former Guards standout had a wildly successful season at Columbia Union College, located near the nation’s capital in Maryland.

A big contributor for the Pioneers this season, Magallon was named a 2009 United States Collegiate Athletic Assn. first-team All-American.

The Pioneers (25-20), ranked No. 2, tried to defend their national title in the USCAA National Championship in Newport News, Va. However, the team went 3-3 in the tournament and failed to repeat.

Magallon, a junior infielder, was second on the team with a .361 average (44 for 122). Along with his 44 hits, he also had 12 runs batted in, scored 32 runs, had five doubles and two home runs. In addition, he had an 18-game hitting streak during the season.

Magallon played for Cal State Dominguez Hills before suiting up for Glendale Community College last season.
